Toby Maguire’s gambling affair is getting worse

Now the illegal gambling ring in which the Spiderman actor was involved, is suspected to have ties to Russian mafia

Last week, it became public that Toby Maguire, the actor who played the role of Spiderman in the Hollywood blockbuster series with the same name, is sued for his participation in poker games, where stakes were taken illegally. In particular the main allegation is that he won USD 300,000 from Brad Ruderman, a trust fund manager, who was charged with stealing money from his clients to cover his debts.

This week new details of the affair have been revealed. Allegedly, apart from Maguire himself and his friends, among whom are such famous actors as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Maguire’s best buddy Leonardo DiCaprio, in the illegal games participated people who have been connected to certain heads of Russian criminal gangs.

The underground poker tournaments were organized by Molly Bloom, who did it in Los Angeles prior to 2009, when she moved to New York to expand her gambling network by setting illegal poker events for Wall Street workers. When in LA, Bloom frequently hosted Maguire and his friends.

After Ruderman’s conviction Bloom was reported to have been beaten by mobsters, though no arrest followed. There were rumours of heк being beaten by Russian mobsters who participated in the games she organized, in order to threaten her not to testify against them in court. It is not clear, whether the same mobsters were part of the gambling ring in Los Angeles and whether Maguire or someone of his friends were in contact with them.
