Lord Of The Rings Costumes For Children

Halloween is a fun time for adults and children alike. The fun begins long before Halloween day however. Perhaps one of the best parts of Halloween is actually choosing a costume for your child to wear.

Some creative parents take this opportunity to make a homemade costume for their children. If are short on time and creativity skills, you shouldn't worry. Instead of making a costume, you can purchase a creative costume for your child or children.

If you have no clue which costume to choose for your child, you may want to consider picking a costume which depicts a character from the Lord of The Rings. Not only are the characters well known by both children and adults, but the costumes are unique.

Perhaps it has been a while since you saw the movie or read the books. If so, here is a brief summary of some of the main characters:

  • Frodo is a hobbit and is the main character of the book. The ring is given to him by his uncle and it becomes his task to destroy the ring.

  • Samwise or Sam is Frodo's best friend. Sam is also a hobbit and lives in Shire along with Frodo. He agrees to accompany Frodo on the quest to destroy the ring.

  • Gandalf is a wizard tasked with protecting Frodo on his quest. Gandalf was known as Gandalf the Grey but after his death and return from death, he was also called "the white wizard". It is Gandalf who discovers that the ring was once owned by the evil Sauron. Gandalf also convinces Frodo to leave the Shire and destroy the ring.

  • Aragorn is the king of a land called Rohan and a traveling companion of Frodo. He is also called Strider Aragorn is not from Middle Earth. Rather, he is a man. After the quest to destroy the ring is finished, Aragorn marries an elf woman named Arwen.

  • Legolas is a blonde elf. Legolas and Aragorn team up in order to help defeat Sauron's Army. Legolas has long blonde hair and excellent skills with a bow and arrow.

  • Smeagle was once a hobbit. He found Sauron's ring during a fishing trip and actually killed his friend in order to possess the ring. Over the years, he was changed by the evil powers possessed by the ring. Eventually, he becomes a pathetic monster called Gollum.

  • Gollum once was called Smeagle. After coming under the influence of the ring, Gollum retreated to a cave to live. His body is twisted and gray in color. He eventually betrays Frodo in order to gain control of the ring once again.

  • Sauron is the creator of the evil ring. He is considered to be the story's antagonist.

Use Props To Complete The Costume

Keep in mind that you may need to supply small props in order to complete the costume. For example, you may want to provide a ring to complete the Gollum character. If your child is dressing up as Legolas, then he should have a bow and arrow.

You do not have to spend a lot of money to get props. You can look at discount stores or toy stores to find props.

Of course, it is important to get your child's input before purchasing a costume. Problems can arise if your child is forced to wear a costume that he or she would rather not wear.

Above all else, enjoy the process. Both you and your child will no doubt create fond memories which will be remembered for many years to come.
