Its a good thing that Diablo 3 fans have LOTS of patience…
Activision has recently released that the long-awaited release of the RPG Diablo III has been delayed again, this time until sometime between April and June of 2012.
“Given the popularity of the action RPG genre, and the keen interest in Diablo III, we expect this launch to be a big opportunity for Blizzard. We can also confirm that we are targeting a Q2 launch for Diablo III,” said Mike Morhaime, during the Activision Blizzard conference call.
After missing some earlier targets, Blizzard had this to say of Diablo 3

“We began beta testing for Diablo III last year. After receiving feedback from the community and our internal teams, we have implemented changes to the game which we believe will greatly improve the game experience, and ensure that the final release will live up to our high expectations. We have also been testing the Auction House functionality. This testing will help ensure a smooth roll-out of this feature wilt he retail launch, so our players can safely and securely trade items with each other.“ |

Initially, Diablo III was expected to be released sometime in the second half of 2011. After that came and went, the rumor from early January 2012 indicated that the game could launch as early as February 1, 2012. That rumor was quickly shot down by Activision, and Blizzard later announced that it was implementing a significant number of changes to the game.
On February 9, 2012, Activision announced that they were expecting to release only one other title from Blizzard this year. They have announced a number of projects, including Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarmand World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Which one will be released is unknown as of yet.
Recently Blizzard sent out a batch of 100,000 Diablo III invites to North American players for beta testing. Blizzard says that they are hopeful that this beta release delay will provide them with enough time to polish the game. Morhaime says that they expect to announce more details about the Diablo 3 release date schedule in the “coming weeks”.
